On September 11, 2023, the new students of 2023 participated in the opening activities of the orientation week organized by EIU. The program was designed to provide useful information to students throughout their academic journey and experiences at the university.

To kick off the orientation week, the students had the opportunity to meet with the university’s leadership and the professors and staff from departments related to students’ academic journey. During the program, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc, the President of EIU, shared the university’s vision, mission, educational goals, and its role in providing high-quality human resources to the business community, contributing to the development of Binh Duong province. The university places students at the center of its education efforts, and the EIU ecosystem offers comprehensive support services to help students achieve their goals and succeed in their studies through various activities such as learning, research, creativity, internships, exchanges, cooperation with businesses, experiential learning, and student union activities.

During the orientation activities, students were introduced to various departments and units that would be involved in their academic journey, such as the Office of Student Affairs, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of International Affairs, the Youth Union, the Library, and more. These units play essential roles in advising and supporting students in all aspects of academic learning, health, life, career development, personal growth, and they provide guidance on training regulations and related policies. Moreover, these departments also support students in activities such as internships, international student exchanges, cooperative projects with businesses, community service, and more.

In addition, students had the opportunity to ask questions related to their concerns during the program, and the professors and staff members provided guidance and shared insights. The orientation program for new students at EIU lasts for three weeks and includes various engaging activities to help students get acquainted with the academic environment and student life.

On September 6, 2023, Mr. John Jung, Co-Founder of the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF), along with a delegation, visited and collaborated with the university. The delegation was warmly received by the university’s leadership, faculty, and students.

As a crucial component of the Smart City project in Binh Duong, EIU not only contributes to training a high-quality workforce to meet the specific needs of Binh Duong province and the Southern Key Economic Region but also serves as a hub for technology transfer and the promotion of innovation and creativity. EIU is a pioneer in establishing an entrepreneurial center in Binh Duong.

During this visit, EIU introduced Mr. John Jung and the delegation to the campus and the roles played by various units, such as the Advanced Manufacturing Center, the Industrial 4.0 Innovation Center, STEM programs, the Cybersecurity Center, and the Becamex Business Incubator, among others. These units serve different purposes but are closely interconnected, forming an ecosystem of innovation and creativity within the university. This ecosystem not only fosters entrepreneurial thinking and contributes to nurturing the startup environment in the region but also provides high-quality technical workforce training. It supports startup businesses in research, design, production, and quality assurance while identifying Industry 4.0 solutions for technology transformation in manufacturing and establishing suitable Industry 4.0 transition plans for companies.

During the program, Mr. John Jung engaged in discussions and shared insights with EIU regarding the university’s vision, strategy, and role in the context of globalization. On August 29, 2023, Eastern International University (EIU) welcomed a delegation from Asia University, Japan (AU) for an exchange and working visit. This program aimed to expand EIU’s cooperation network with reputable universities worldwide.

During the working program, the delegation from Asia University, Japan had the opportunity to learn and discuss with EIU about student exchange programs, English language training programs, and details about the international student dormitory model at EIU. In addition, EIU also introduced the delegation to several cultural exchange and sightseeing programs at some prominent locations in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province for international students. Through these activities, international students can experience exciting events, gain an overview of Vietnamese culture, and accumulate various life skills while studying at EIU.

Furthermore, the delegation visited EIU’s dormitory, the Language Center, and various units within EIU’s innovative ecosystem, including the Cybersecurity Center, Fablab, the Industrial Innovation and Creativity Center 4.0 (IIC), and the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC). During the tour, the delegation was particularly impressed by the Language Center, which supports students in honing and enhancing their English language skills to achieve a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 and develop themselves in today’s international integration period. With the mission of “advance knowledge and serve the community,” EIU strives to equip its students not only with specialized knowledge and skills but also with strong language communication skills, allowing them to confidently seek various career development opportunities after graduation. On August 26, 2023, at the Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center, Eastern International University (EIU) solemnly held The Commencement Ceremony for newly minted Bachelor’s and Engineer graduates.

The event was attended by Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet – former Politburo member and former State President; Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, a member of the Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; and Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, a member of the Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, and Honorary Chairman of EIU’s Council. As a university founded and invested in by businesses, EIU plays a significant role in the State – university – business relationship. On August 9, 2023, the School of Engineering at EIU organized a seminar with the theme “Collaborative robot – Application and Research Potentials/Robot”.

Collaborative robots (Cobots) have been receiving significant attention from manufacturing companies and researchers due to their application potentials and research areas aimed at optimizing their operational features. Cobots are truly changing the way humans work and interact with machines, creating a delicate combination of automation and human skills.

At the event, the speaker, Dr. H�Thanh Tâm, Research Manager at Neuromeka Vietnam, shared knowledge and experience related to the research and development of Cobots. The speaker also highlighted practical applications of Cobots in various fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, and especially its market trends. Additionally, the speaker and guests discussed areas of ongoing research potential related to Cobots, from developing new technologies to applying them to address complex challenges in society and industry.

The students of the Becamex Business School (BBS) at EIU have successfully completed their internship program in Singapore. This program was specially designed for EIU students to provide them with a unique opportunity to explore and understand the international working environment, cultural diversity, and ethnic diversity in Singapore. Through this experience, students have been able to enhance their practical knowledge, gain insights into their career paths, and accumulate knowledge, experience, and skills to apply in their future studies and work.

During the trip, the students participated in various meaningful activities. They visited a solar energy farm on the river by boat at SembCorp, explored the Marketplace model at Republic Polytechnic, which turns all student ideas into products, and learned about the importance of ethnic development in multicultural countries from the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA). They also had the opportunity to discover the structure and culture of companies such as Addicon Logistics Management Ltd, Yamazaki Mazak Singapore Pte Ltd, and Omron Automation Center. They learned about the history, organizational structure, and corporate culture and experienced real-life manufacturing processes, automation, and the importance of automation in the supply chain. Particularly, at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Startup Center Block 71, students explored the startup ecosystem and the operational mechanisms of Block 71 for startup projects in Singapore and the surrounding region.

Participating in this program, EIU students not only learned about and benefited from the progress made by schools and businesses they visited but also showed a proactive, enthusiastic attitude, and asked many questions about the fields they were interested in. Many companies have praised the students’ dynamism, excellent language skills, and sharp thinking. After the program, the students will prepare reports on their experiences and what they have learned during their internship.

On July 26, 2023, Eastern International University (EIU) welcomed a delegation of faculty and students from Portland State University, United States, for an exchange program.

The purpose of this visit was to provide an opportunity for Portland State University to explore EIU’s learning environment and its innovative ecosystem, as well as the VSIP industrial park located in Binh Duong. During the visit, the Portland State University delegation was impressed by the landscape and the well-equipped facilities, including laboratory systems invested in by EIU. Additionally, the innovative ecosystem developed within the university, comprising units such as the Becamex Business Incubator, Fablab, Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC), and Industry 4.0 Innovation Center (IIC), served as a model for faculty and students from Portland State University to learn from and gain insights. These units not only contribute to the internal learning and research activities of EIU but also foster an entrepreneurial spirit and innovation for the broader community.

Furthermore, the delegation also visited the VSIP industrial park and Wus Tech Co., Ltd in Binh Duong. As one of the modern and exemplary industrial parks, VSIP attracts domestic and foreign investors and generates abundant job opportunities in various fields. Being part of the Becamex ecosystem, both VSIP and EIU support each other in their relationships with academia and businesses. On July 21, 2023, Eastern International University (EIU) welcomed and collaborated with a delegation from the University of Malaya �Malaysia and the University of Finance and Marketing. The program aimed to promote exchange and cooperation activities between EIU and prestigious domestic and international universities.

During the event, the delegation had the opportunity to visit the learning environment and explore various units within EIU’s innovative ecosystem, including the Library, Becamex Business Incubator, Industry 4.0 Innovation Center, and more. As a pioneer in establishing an innovative ecosystem, EIU not only provides a place for students to study and develop themselves but also serves as a driving force to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation activities for students and the community. Additionally, the delegation learned about the social housing projects invested by Becamex Corporation. On the morning of July 12, 2023, at the Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province (Vietnam) and the Government of Nebraska State (USA) on establishing the relationship between the two countries, cooperation and twinning system on the basis of the principle of equality and mutual benefit, with many meaningful contents in order to cooperate and develop comprehensively.

Accordingly, to start the cooperation in the field of education, Eastern International University – invested by Becamex IDC Corporation, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Nebraska-Ohama. With similarities in training fields such as: Science and technology, health, engineering, economics, etc.. The signing not only opens up opportunities for development cooperation for the two units, but also creates favorable conditions. , providing learning, research and development opportunities for students through experiential activities, student exchanges, academic projects, etc.

On June 30, 2023, Eastern International University (EIU) held the Opening Ceremony for the Cyber Security Center. The event was attended by Ms. Ikuko Kobayashi, Chairwoman of ARIS Corporation (Japan), Mr. Yutaka Ueda, CEO of ARIS Corporation (Japan), Mr. Tran Tuan Nhat, CEO of ARIS Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Tan Loi, EIU Chairman, and Dr. Ngo Minh Duc, the EIU President, as well as members of the Board of President, leaders, faculty members, specialists from various departments of the University.

In 2022, EIU and ARIS Japan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a cooperative agreement between the two entities. The aim of this is to create an environment for students, faculty, and partnering businesses to study, collaborate, conduct research, and receive practical training with the latest technologies. As a result, the two entities agreed to establish the Cyber Security Center at EIU. Leveraging the university’s strengths in training and research in the field of Information Technology and Communication, along with the support from ARIS Company, the Cyber Security Center will serve as a training ground for students on topics related to cybersecurity. It will also organize workshops and training programs for various disciplines, conduct research projects for faculty and student initiatives, and facilitate research collaborations between students and faculty members on cybersecurity topics. Additionally, the center will serve as a platform for knowledge updates and technology transfer in the areas of safety and information security for the community.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc emphasized that the future goal of the Cyber Security Center is not only to provide a conducive environment for students to study, practice, and research the latest technologies, but also to expand cooperation with business partners to undertake projects, provide solutions, training, and transfer of new technologies related to cyber security.

During the event, Ms. Ikuko Kobayashi, Chairwoman of ARIS Corporation, highlighted that ARIS will accompany the University in developing the Cyber Security Center, contributing to the training and supply of high-quality human resources to meet societal demands.
