Binh Duong Province’s leadership, in collaboration with Vietnam’s Theoretical Council and the Communist Journal’s Editorial Board, held a workshop on April 19-20, 2022 to highlight the southern province’s achievements over the past 25 years and prospects.

The event, held at the Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center, marked an important milestone in the province�?history. Binh Duong came into being in 1997 as Song Be province was divided into Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc provinces.

The workshop served as a reviewal of efforts of Binh Duong’s leadership and residents in developing this land from Song Be’s background, thus creating a driving force for further development.

The EIU joined the significant event with the presence of its Lab 4.0, Fablab and a number of tech products by the university’s innovation ecosystem.

Lab 4.0 includes smart and modern machines and equipment, along with automated production lines to catch up with development trends from the industrial revolution 4.0. The center serves EIU’s high-quality human resource training activities, which are associated with actual needs of businesses, support business training, coordinate with businesses to implement intensive projects to serve the community.

The university’s STEM program �?associated with its Fablab activities �?is a digital manufacturing laboratory providing the community with opportunities to access and use equipment, techniques and technologies. Users can both study and work; create, research and implement engineering and technology projects or build start-up projects. The Fablab is developing a STEM Education Program that integrates science and technology knowledge for middle and high school students, helping learners develop their thinking, enhance their passion for science and creative research activities in the community.

Focusing on building a scientific and technical foundation based on 4.0 technology standards is one of EIU’s top priorities in training and research activities as well as connecting and serving the community. EIU will continue to anticipate and grasp new trends in technology, and apply the results of the 4.0 industrial revolution in training high-quality human resources in a timely manner to meet human resource needs, based on both Binh Duong’s development directions and the Becamex IDC Corporation’s development strategy.

🥳 Congratulations to the CIT team for having taken part in the 30th Vietnam Informatics Olympiad and ICPC HANOI 2021.

📚 The 30th Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad and ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) Hanoi Asia 2022* have taken place recently, with more than 450 students and 120 trainers from 70 participating universities. The Eastern International University (EIU) was represented by students Le Duy Lin, Nguyen Huu Nhan and Nguyen Huu Tien from the 8th course, the Faculty of Communications and Information Technology (CIT), who have showed their CIT passion during the contests.

🧑‍�?At EIU, the students are members at the CIT Club established by the Faculty’s lecturers to help students improve their programming skills and practice participating in competitions.

The students said this was their first time to participate in 2 big competitions in Hanoi, they felt worried. However, enthusiastic guidance from lecturers in reviewing knowledge and working out tactics has helped them to overcome the issue to join the contests with highest confidence they could.

🧑‍�?Unlucky for the team when arriving in Hanoi, a member tested positive for Covid-19 right before the official competition and could not participate in the team contest for ICPC Hanoi Asia 2022. But the other two tried their best to complete their individual part in the Olympiads. As a result, Le Duy Lin won the Consolation Prize in the specialized exam for CIT students, which saw more than 160 students participating.

🥰 Despite difficulties in the contests, encouragement from the lecturers and careful preparation by each member created strong motivation to help them do the tasks confidently. They also had the opportunity to fulfill their passion and accumulate many valuable experiences.

*Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad is an individual competition for students studying at universities and colleges, including many specialized and non-specialized competitions for first-year IT students and other students. In the contest, students have to program to solve tough issues. The organizers use automatic scoring and students can adjust their test before submitting.

* ICPC Hanoi Asia 2022 is a programming competition for international students, where groups of 3 students and 1 coach have to make one team. There are 3 main rounds: Regional, National, Asian Round. After the Asian is the World Finals.

EIU’s Faculty of Engineering held a workshop on improving the quality of engineering training on March 30, 2022,

The event was designed for EIU lecturers to share training experiences in engineering, promote the use of new technologies in lecturing, especially during the global pandemic, and to improve the faculty’s training quality.

Among the participants were lecturers from this faculty and the Faculty of Information Technology, other EIU units, and many students.

The workshop discussed many issues on the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic to global education in general and EIU in particular; innovations and creativity in teaching, learning and research methods at EIU; application of science and technology to business and life. The topics were:

👉Global impacts of COVID-19 on higher education and implications for Vietnam and EIU;

👉 Innovative Teaching, Learning, Scientific Research and Academic Advancement at EIU: A New “Pillar�?in the Information Age;

👉 Using Google and YouTube to Improve Online Self-study of Students and Faculty;

👉 Energy Storage System: a Summary of Topologies;

👉 Performance of Students Resulted from a Multi-disciplinary Project at Eastern International University;

👉Design, Manufacture Model of the Air Conditioning System in Car Communicated with the Computer.

The topics drew a lot of attention from the participants, lecturers and students. The workshop was for academic sharing, but also a place to exchange, learn, and promote the spirit of research and creativity in teaching and learning at EIU.

🚌 EIU on March 26, 2022 welcomed students from Duc Tri School in Binh Duong province and Viet Anh High School in Ho Chi Minh City to EIU in its campus tour program.

📖 The visiting students, with their excitement, took turn in experiencing many interesting activities at EIU units such as Fablab (fabrication laboratory), 4.0 technology experiment room, STEM Classroom, Library, Business Incubator, practice rooms, laboratories, as well as classrooms at faculties.

📚 The junior visitors heard EIU lecturers from different faculties share information on EIU majors, study process at the international university, career development opportunities for students after graduation. They had many questions about EIU training programs, and scholarships they can win.

In 2022, EIU offers three main admission channels namely:

✔️ Channel 1: Admissions based on the results of the high school graduation exam in 2022

✔️ Channel 2: Admissions based on academic records from high school

👉 Based on 12th grade results

👉 Based on academic records from 5 semesters (semesters 1 & 2 of Grade 10, semesters 1 & 2 of Grade 11, semester 1 of Grade 12)

✔️ Channel 3: Admissions based on the results of the National University Ho Chi Minh City Competency Assessment exam in 2022.

👩‍�?In addition, to encourage candidates who have been admitted to EIU with good results, EIU also offers many valuable scholarships such as: Incentive Scholarship VND10,000,000 each, Talent Scholarship VND20,000,000 each, Full Scholarship from VND102,500,000 to VND122,500,000 for Nursing and the groups of Engineering, and Information Technology.

❤️ The campus tours for Duc Tri School and Viet Anh High School were very fruitful. The junior students got to learn interesting things, obtained lots of useful information to help them in selecting appropriate university majors in the near future.

EIU and young Ben Cat Town officials co-organized the finals of the contest “Let’s speak English�?in the school year 2021-2022 on March 24, 2022.

The contest aimed to bring to secondary high school students and high school students a useful playground that will help improve their English skills and learn more interesting things.

After the qualifying round, the 7 best teams from four secondary high schools and three high schools in Ben Cat Town went thru to the Final Round.

The finals witnessed intense but attractive competitions namely Talent, Teamwork and Presentation. The jury selected the two best teams of each type: one from My Phuoc Secondary High School and the other from Ben Cat High School.

Commenting on the contestants in the contest, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Nhi, lecturer, EIU School of Business Administration, a jury member, said she was quite surprised with their ability to speak English fluently. They have prepared very carefully and thoughtfully for their team.

Mr. Steven Owen, Academic Director of EIU Foreign Language Center (Campus at 6th floor of Becamex Building), another jury member, appreciated the contestants�?confidence and flexibility in handling problems and answering questions from the jury. He said he believed they would use English well in the future.
