On the morning of July 12, 2023, at the Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province (Vietnam) and the Government of Nebraska State (USA) on establishing the relationship between the two countries, cooperation and twinning system on the basis of the principle of equality and mutual benefit, with many meaningful contents in order to cooperate and develop comprehensively.

Accordingly, to start the cooperation in the field of education, Eastern International University – invested by Becamex IDC Corporation, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Nebraska-Ohama. With similarities in training fields such as: Science and technology, health, engineering, economics, etc.. The signing not only opens up opportunities for development cooperation for the two units, but also creates favorable conditions. , providing learning, research and development opportunities for students through experiential activities, student exchanges, academic projects, etc.

It is known that expanding cooperation activities with prestigious domestic and international educational and business partners is one of the goals that Eastern International University always focuses on. The strong connection network is the basis for the University to share, update and perfect the training program to suit the continuous development of the society; At the same time, it also contributes to creating positive values that spread to the community.

Earlier on the same day, the delegation visited EIU – the core element of the tribble helix: government- University – Enterprises in the innovation ecosystem of Binh Duong Province, Mr. Jim Pillen – Governor of Nebraska State expressed interest and appreciation for the modern learning environment as well as the University’s investment in developing the Innovation Ecosystem. With many units that have close interaction with each other, this model not only creates a lot of value for EIU’s internal learning – research – entrepreneurship, but also contributes to spreading and promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship, and strongly support in training, technology transfer, providing many services in the field of start-up – innovation for the community.

Furthermore, during the tour of EIU Fablab, Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC), and the Industry 4.0 Innovation Center (IIC), Mr. Jim Pillen recognized the role of each unit and showed particular interest in the AMC, which supports startup enterprises in manufacturing and processing. This is a critical nucleus that attracts intellectual resources, investment, and develops capacity and human resources to contribute to the innovation mission of Binh Duong Province, specifically, and the key economic region in the southern part of Vietnam as a whole.

The Eastern International University (EIU) welcomed visiting students from Republic Polytechnic in Singapore on March 15, 2023.

The visit aimed to enhance networking and international cooperation between EIU and Republic Polytechnic, while creating more opportunities for student and lecturer exchanges, academic exchanges, and scientific research activities.

The visiting students got to generally know EIU in the Vietnamese southern province of Binh Duong, especially the EIU study environment that helps students gain practical experiences, a solid foundation of knowledge, and experiences for their future careers.

The delegation toured units of EIU’s Innovation Ecosystem like the Becamex Business Incubator (BBI), Vietnam-Singapore Industry 4.0 Innovation Center (VSIIC), Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC), and Fablab Manufacturing Experiment Center.

The Republic Polytechnic students showed a special interest in VSIIC. It is an important foundation in the EIU innovation ecosystem �?its mission is to train a workforce ready for the future. It is a place for students, among them are engineering student, to study, do research, and carry out projects with smart machinery and equipment systems to catch up with the development trends of the fourth industrial revolution.

During the program, students of the two educational institutions discusses issues on the supply chain in the semiconductor industry. This sector is one of the key drivers in the global electronics industry. Therefore, the topic drew lot of attention from them. This was also a great opportunity for students to make friends and get to know more about the two countries�?economies, cultures and technology issues.

To train high-quality human resources, EIU always focuses on expanding international cooperation, especially with prestigious educational institutions to share and learn advanced training programs, exchange ideas. The initiatives have made substantial contributions to enrich student experience, helping them be able to confidently study and work in an international environment.

At Eastern International University (EIU), Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), Ministry of Science and Technology, and BK Holdings co-hosted an e-conference on July 6 to connect Vietnamese ICT startups with domestic and foreign groups of startups.

The connecting and investment promotion conference were attended by Mr. Tran Van Tung, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, ministerial officials, executives from investment funds, and representatives of the Departments of Science and Technology of Thua Thien – Hue and Binh Duong provinces. Other participants were IT experts and consultants, groups of startups from Taiwan (China), Malaysia, and the Silicon Valley.

Also joining the event were EIU lecturers and students, as well as members in the EIU startup ecosystem. As a pioneer in establishing and developing startup and innovation ecosystems, EIU facilitates a great deal of work in the ecosystem, provides entrepreneurship knowledge, holds workshops and training programs, makes facilities available, and opens working spaces for startups.

At the conference, guest speakers and delegates presented different topics, discussed ways to boost connections and investments among startups. The event also spent time discussing support for local entrepreneurs, trends in technology startups; sharing experience in promoting and investing in technology startups in Taiwan and Malaysia.

Addressing the event, Phan Thi Thuy Trang from the Binh Duong Department of Science and Technology highlighted the role of the Triple Helix Model of “Government – Enterprises �?Universities�?in the development of the provincial startup innovation ecosystem. She praised EIU’s efforts in building and developing an innovation ecosystem in the province that includes Becamex Business Incubator (BBI), EIU Fablab Manufacturing Experiment Center (EIU Fablab), and 4.0 Technology Experiment Center (Lab 4.0).

*The conference also got to know experience and sharing from Vinasa Connect and IT consultants from established businesses like Misa, VTI Cloud, and MongoDB.

Binh Duong among Top 7 Intelligent Communities worldwide in 2 consecutive years

Binh Duong Province and the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) co-hosted the 2022 Top 7 ICF Conference & Announcement at the Binh Duong Convention & Exhibition Center on June 21.

Among the VIPs joining the event were Central Economic Committee leaders, Government and ministerial officials, provincial authorities, and international delegates.

Addressing the event, Politburo member and Central Economic Committee chief Mr. Tran Tuan Anh praised Binh Duong’s successful development and implementation of the southern province’s smart city strategy. The strategy includes the Triple Helix Model of Government – Enterprises �?Universities, and the 5-layer model for the Binh Duong Innovation region project. The model features factors like development planning for urban infrastructure and transportation, as well as building up an innovative entrepreneurship culture.

ICF co-founder Louis Zacharilla appreciated the province’s efforts in putting people and knowledge at the centre of all aspects in the strategy, taking smart cooperation as the main philosophy for development.

As part of the Binh Duong Smart City Project, Becamex IDC Corporation has built an innovative ecosystem with many key members, contributing to the development of a smart city. As a Becamex IDC member, EIU has made important contributions to the application of digital transformation and innovation in the smart city development goals. On June 20-21, Vietnam’s Binh Duong province and the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) will jointly present the 2022 Top7 Intelligent Communities conference and announcement: “After the Pandemic: How Digital Innovation Drives Growth in Our Communities�?

Binh Duong New City was one of the Top7 Communities of 2021 and is a Smart21 Community again this year. Notably, this is the city”s fourth Smart21 Community title in a row.

The ICF has selected Binh Duong province to co-present the conference and announcement, with the venue being the WTC Convention and Exhibition Center in Binh Duong New City.

The major event will welcome many international delegations, ICF executives, and Vietnamese leaders of national and provincial levels. The distinguished delegates will also pay a visit to the Eastern International University (EIU). Located in Binh Duong New City, EIU is a pioneer university that has been making important contributions to the Binh Duong Innovation Region.

As a member of Becamex IDC Corporation, EIU has contributed to the innovation ecosystem of Binh Duong Smart City specifically and the whole country in general through the following tasks:

🥳 Congratulations to the CIT team for having taken part in the 30th Vietnam Informatics Olympiad and ICPC HANOI 2021.

📚 The 30th Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad and ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) Hanoi Asia 2022* have taken place recently, with more than 450 students and 120 trainers from 70 participating universities. The Eastern International University (EIU) was represented by students Le Duy Lin, Nguyen Huu Nhan and Nguyen Huu Tien from the 8th course, the Faculty of Communications and Information Technology (CIT), who have showed their CIT passion during the contests.

🧑‍�?At EIU, the students are members at the CIT Club established by the Faculty’s lecturers to help students improve their programming skills and practice participating in competitions.

The students said this was their first time to participate in 2 big competitions in Hanoi, they felt worried. However, enthusiastic guidance from lecturers in reviewing knowledge and working out tactics has helped them to overcome the issue to join the contests with highest confidence they could.

🧑‍�?Unlucky for the team when arriving in Hanoi, a member tested positive for Covid-19 right before the official competition and could not participate in the team contest for ICPC Hanoi Asia 2022. But the other two tried their best to complete their individual part in the Olympiads. As a result, Le Duy Lin won the Consolation Prize in the specialized exam for CIT students, which saw more than 160 students participating.

🥰 Despite difficulties in the contests, encouragement from the lecturers and careful preparation by each member created strong motivation to help them do the tasks confidently. They also had the opportunity to fulfill their passion and accumulate many valuable experiences.

*Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad is an individual competition for students studying at universities and colleges, including many specialized and non-specialized competitions for first-year IT students and other students. In the contest, students have to program to solve tough issues. The organizers use automatic scoring and students can adjust their test before submitting.

* ICPC Hanoi Asia 2022 is a programming competition for international students, where groups of 3 students and 1 coach have to make one team. There are 3 main rounds: Regional, National, Asian Round. After the Asian is the World Finals.

EIU’s Faculty of Engineering held a workshop on improving the quality of engineering training on March 30, 2022,

The event was designed for EIU lecturers to share training experiences in engineering, promote the use of new technologies in lecturing, especially during the global pandemic, and to improve the faculty’s training quality.

Among the participants were lecturers from this faculty and the Faculty of Information Technology, other EIU units, and many students.

The workshop discussed many issues on the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic to global education in general and EIU in particular; innovations and creativity in teaching, learning and research methods at EIU; application of science and technology to business and life. The topics were:

👉Global impacts of COVID-19 on higher education and implications for Vietnam and EIU;

👉 Innovative Teaching, Learning, Scientific Research and Academic Advancement at EIU: A New “Pillar�?in the Information Age;

👉 Using Google and YouTube to Improve Online Self-study of Students and Faculty;

👉 Energy Storage System: a Summary of Topologies;

👉 Performance of Students Resulted from a Multi-disciplinary Project at Eastern International University;

👉Design, Manufacture Model of the Air Conditioning System in Car Communicated with the Computer.

The topics drew a lot of attention from the participants, lecturers and students. The workshop was for academic sharing, but also a place to exchange, learn, and promote the spirit of research and creativity in teaching and learning at EIU.

EIU and young Ben Cat Town officials co-organized the finals of the contest “Let’s speak English�?in the school year 2021-2022 on March 24, 2022.

The contest aimed to bring to secondary high school students and high school students a useful playground that will help improve their English skills and learn more interesting things.

After the qualifying round, the 7 best teams from four secondary high schools and three high schools in Ben Cat Town went thru to the Final Round.

The finals witnessed intense but attractive competitions namely Talent, Teamwork and Presentation. The jury selected the two best teams of each type: one from My Phuoc Secondary High School and the other from Ben Cat High School.

Commenting on the contestants in the contest, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Nhi, lecturer, EIU School of Business Administration, a jury member, said she was quite surprised with their ability to speak English fluently. They have prepared very carefully and thoughtfully for their team.

Mr. Steven Owen, Academic Director of EIU Foreign Language Center (Campus at 6th floor of Becamex Building), another jury member, appreciated the contestants�?confidence and flexibility in handling problems and answering questions from the jury. He said he believed they would use English well in the future.
