On December 16, the East International University (EIU) successfully organised the seminar “Elevating Supply Chain Leadership: A Path to Excellence.”

The seminar featured speaker Douffy Youm, who has held various high-level managerial positions at the global corporation Nike. The event attracted the participation of nearly 50 researchers and business leaders from both within and outside the Binh Duong province.

During the seminar, Mr. Douffy Youm addressed topics related to the post-pandemic development of the supply chain, the ability to adapt to the current context, talent training and development within organisations, forecasting, and risk management.

In the second session, participants engaged in deep discussions on leadership issues, drawing from the experiences shared by speakers such as Mr. Douffy Youm, Mr. Ike Hoehn representing Ashley Furniture Vietnam, Mr. Le Cong Vinh from Tetra Pak Vietnam, and Ms. Nguyen Vu Anh Tram from the Becamex Business School.

With the guidance of Ms. Lê Thu Hằng, a lecturer from the Becamex Business School, 6 students divided into 2 teams from the School, including Nguyễn Hoàng Thanh Thư, Phạm Bá Tấn Tài, Lê Hồng Dương, Đinh Văn Quyết, Trần Minh Tuyết, and Bùi Văn Đạt, have respectively achieved the ‘Award of Daejeon Association of Disabled Persons Information Union’ and the ‘Award of Woosong University LINC 3.0’ at the 2023 Korea – Vietnam Creative Idea Competition. The event was attended by Mr. Nguyễn Văn Lộc, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council of Bình Dương.

The competition involved the participation of 12 teams formed in collaboration between 5 South Korean universities and 7 Vietnamese universities, including Eastern International University, Vietnam-Germany University, Thu Dau Mot University, Binh Duong University, Binh Duong University of Economics and Technology, Vietnam-Singapore Vocational College, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.

The theme of this year’s competition is Smart City and Smart Mobility. The 12 participating teams have designed ideas for a smart city in the future that meets criteria such as environmental friendliness, closeness to residents, and development in economic, health, commercial, and technological sectors.

The competition aims to promote enhanced collaboration between universities in South Korea and universities in Vietnam, showcasing the friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries, especially the relationship between Daejeon City and Binh Duong Province.

Earlier, on November 28, at Thu Dau Mot University, a cooperation agreement signing ceremony took place among various universities from Vietnam and South Korea. As one of the universities in Binh Duong province, Eastern International University, along with other South Korean universities, signed a memorandum of understanding with key content such as: Collaborative development in infrastructure; Financial support for students from the universities in international cooperation activities; Development and exchange of human resources, enhancing the quality of students and faculty at the respective universities; Collaboration in technology transfer and technology development based on the capabilities and strengths of each university; Building a collaborative cultural foundation among the universities.

On November 30, the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at VNU-HCM collaborated with Eastern International University (EIU) to conclude the official quality accreditation survey of two training programs: Electrical Engineering, and Computer Networks and Data Communication. The assessment was conducted according to the standards for evaluating the quality of undergraduate programs set by the Ministry of Education and Training.

The program was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam, the Director of the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at VNU-HCM, who supervised the evaluation team. Assoc. Over nearly 4 days of work with a transparent and effective spirit, the External Evaluation Team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu, along with its members, conducted various specialized activities at EIU. These activities included meetings with university leaders, departments, and units; reviewing documents and evidence; interviewing relevant parties; inspecting practical and experimental equipment; and examining the working and learning conditions of faculty, staff, and students at the university.

During the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu presented the preliminary results of the official quality accreditation survey for the two training programs at EIU. The presentation highlighted both the strengths and suggested improvements for the two programs, aiming to contribute to the continuous enhancement of the overall educational quality at EIU and specifically within the two departments. The recommendations were made with the goal of ensuring the rights of learners and meeting the requirements of employers both domestically and internationally.

At the program, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Trong – Vice President of EIU, expressed gratitude to the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at VNU-HCM and all members of the External Evaluation Team for their serious and responsible work in successfully conducting the official quality assessment survey for the two undergraduate programs at EIU, including Electrical Engineering and Computer Networks and Data Communication.

EIU highly values and will earnestly consider the recommendations of the External Evaluation Team to continue to leverage strengths and address areas for improvement. This will serve as a foundation for the University’s macro-scale plans and strategies for the quality of the two programs, aiming to achieve international education accreditation standards such as ABET by 2030.

On November 27, 2023, Eastern International University (EIU) collaborated with the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at VNU-HCM to organize the official opening of the quality accreditation survey for two training programs: Electrical Engineering, Computer Networks and Data Communication according to the standards for evaluating the quality of undergraduate education levels set by the Ministry of Education and Training.

In the opening speech, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc, EIU president, expressed gratitude to the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at VNU-HCM and the External Evaluation Team for undertaking the quality assessment activities for the two training programs at EIU. Dr. Ngo Minh Duc also conveyed the university’s desire for the External Evaluation Team to provide appropriate recommendations to help the university enhance the quality of education in the future. During this occasion, EIU president shared information about the university, including educational philosophy, mission, vision, currently offered programs, and the learning environment. Special emphasis was given to the Innovation and Industry 4.0 Ecosystem with eight key elements such as Fablab, Becamex Business Incubator, Industrial 4.0 Innovation Center, and Advanced Manufacturing Center.

Prof. Dr. Duong Hoai Nghia, Dean of the School of Engineering, and Dr. Huynh Tan Phuoc, the Head of the Computer Network & Data Communication Department, School of Computing and Information Technology, presented an overview of the school and the curriculum for each program to the External Evaluation Team.

At the opening ceremony, Assoc. As part of the working visit to Binh Duong province from November 16th to 18th, on November 18th, Eastern International University (EIU) had the honor of welcoming the delegation from the Kingdom of Cambodia for a visit. The delegation, led by Mr. Chan Sothea – Deputy Minister of the Interior, also serving as Deputy Secretary of the Local Democratic Development National Committee, was received by Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy – Vice President of EIU.

During the reception program, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy shared with Mr. Chan Sothea and the members of the delegation about the role and quality of education at EIU within the ecosystem of Becamex IDC. Additionally, EIU expressed its desire to welcome Cambodian students in general and from Kratie province, Cambodia, in particular, under the cooperation program signed between the leadership of the two provinces.

Participating in the workshop, from ARIS Company were Mr. Ueda Yutaka – Director of ARIS Japan, Mr. Hiroki Saito – Hiroki Saito – Chief Technical Officer, Cyber Security Division, ARIS Japan, the speaker. From EIU, there were Dr. Nguyen Thanh Trong – Vice President, Dr. Narayan Chandra Debnath – Dean of the School of Computing and Information Technology, along with leaders from departments, faculties, centers, lecturers, specialists, and students of EIU. Particularly, the seminar also welcomed representatives from companies such as VNTT, TTi, Orient Software, Baosteel Can Making, Fossil Group, Becamex TDC, and more.

In his opening speech at the seminar, Dr. Narayan Chandra Debnath welcomed and warmly greeted the experts, esteemed professors, and students in attendance. The demand for network defense and related activities is currently substantial.

The Cyber Security Center at EIU provides unique academic knowledge and technical solutions to enhance connectivity and virtualization capabilities in the School of Computing and Information Technology. Additionally, the center assists students in accessing modern technologies and equipment, and gaining insights into the business and technical aspects of information security, emphasized Dr. Narayan Chandra Debnath.

Continuing the program, Mr. Hiroki Saito shared with experts, esteemed professors, business representatives, lecturers, and students about issues surrounding damages caused by cyberattacks in areas such as healthcare, construction, automation manufacturing, and import-export management.

Through the preliminary survey, they highly appreciate the infrastructure, learning environment of EIU in general, and the two programs in particular.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Trong, on behalf of the EIU Board of Presidents, expressed sincere thanks to the esteemed faculty members in the External Evaluation Team for working at EIU during this period. Ensuring quality is one of the tasks that EIU always pays attention to and focuses on. Quality assurance not only helps EIU meet certain standards in training but also, through the assessment activities, helps EIU improve and enhance the quality of training to meet the demands of labour users in Binh Duong province and the whole country.

On 8th of November 2023, Eastern International University organized the EIUSC 2023 (Eastern International University Scientific Conference) under the theme “The University Scientific Research Activities in the Context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.” The conference was a lively event, hosting nearly 300 researchers, faculty members, specialists, and students from the university, alongside distinguished guests from various universities such as King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia), National University of Singapore (NUS), RMIT Vietnam, University of Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, and Ton Duc Thang University.

In his opening speech, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc, the president of EIU, shared, “Following the success of the first Eastern International University Scientific Conference in 2022, EIU is delighted to welcome researchers, faculty members, specialists, and students to the EIUSC 2023. EIU is striving to develop a comprehensive ecosystem to foster innovation and transformation within the context of Industry 4.0, including the Advanced Manufacturing Center, Industry 4.0 Innovation Center, and Cybersecurity Center. At the plenary session, Prof. Dr Ahmed A D Sharhan from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia) shared insights on the challenges of Industry 4.0 under the theme “The Fourth Industrial Revolution: The Current Era of Smart Technology.” He highlighted two major challenges facing Industry 4.0: Technology Challenges and Social Challenges. Within the realm of Technology Challenges, elements such as Cybersecurity, Communication Reliability & Quality of Service, and the processing of Big Data constitute significant factors contributing to the current technological challenges.

Continuing the program, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh and Dr. Vo Thi Hong Diem from RMIT Vietnam shared specific insights during the conference on the theme “Race with the Machines: Assessing the Capability of Generative AI in Solving Authentic Assessments.” They discussed the role of Generative AI in research, teaching, assessment planning, new opportunities, and challenges in education concerning ensuring students’ learning outcomes and utilizing the benefits of AI in homework assignments.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh and Dr. Vo Thi Hong Diem presented discussions at the conference on the theme “Race with the Machines: Assessing the Capability of Generative AI in Solving Authentic Assessments.”

During the specialized committee report sessions and poster presentation sessions, the debating council and the participating domain experts were reputable scientists, experienced researchers, and seasoned educators from various fields relevant to the conference. The environment fostered an enthusiastic academic exchange. All topics received constructive feedback and positive comments from the council.

The university council and board of presidents presented certificates and gifts to the speakers during the plenary session.

At the conclusion of the conference, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates to the 8 outstanding presentations and 4 notable posters across the specialized committee sessions. Additionally, the papers meeting the requirements will be selected for publication in the comprehensive proceedings (either in print or online, with an ISBN index).

On November 2, 2023, students from the Becamex Business School had the opportunity to meet and listen to insights from Dr. Taku Fujiyama, Associate Professor at University College London, during the seminar “Transportation Related Sustainability”.

The program provided an opportunity for faculty and students from the Becamex Business School to discuss the significance and impact of the transportation industry on the environment, society, and the economy, as well as the necessity of developing sustainable transportation. During the seminar, students also had the chance to interact and exchange ideas with the Directors of Tokyu Bus Company regarding the sustainable development of public transportation services in Binh Duong province. Tokyu Bus is currently a leading bus service provider in Vietnam, known for its high-quality services.
