On December 16, the East International University (EIU) successfully organised the seminar “Elevating Supply Chain Leadership: A Path to Excellence.”

The seminar featured speaker Douffy Youm, who has held various high-level managerial positions at the global corporation Nike. The event attracted the participation of nearly 50 researchers and business leaders from both within and outside the Binh Duong province.

On December 13, 2023, the Eastern International University (EIU) organised a seminar on the theme “Cultivating Leadership Excellence,” featuring speaker Douffy Youm. The seminar “Cultivating Leadership Excellence” was designed to provide an opportunity for guests and the management teams of various units to share and update knowledge and practical experiences regarding leadership skills in the modern era. The program also served as a space for leaders and managers to articulate essential leadership principles, discuss strategic thinking, management skills, and explore solutions and operational strategies, as well as the opportunities and challenges faced by leaders, etc.

In addition, speaker Douffy emphasised the importance of innovative thinking and the adaptability of leaders in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which is rapidly transforming all aspects of society. The dynamic environment demands that leaders continuously enhance and develop themselves and their capabilities to effectively fulfil their roles.

Following the seminar, EIU also provided an opportunity for businesses, as strategic partners of the university, to participate in internal leadership training programs. These programs aim to develop leadership capabilities, contribute to the identification, attraction, and retention of talented leaders.

After two weeks of exciting competitions, on December 10, 2023, EIU UNIGAMES 2023 concluded successfully.

EIU Unigames was organised to celebrate the 41st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20, 1982 �?November 20, 2023). The event attracted 424 athletes from various departments, units, and student groups of the university, participating in competitions, including 16 football teams, 7 basketball teams, 3 volleyball teams, 76 badminton pairs, and 40 track and field athletes. Through intense and captivating moments of competition, with beautiful plays, exciting matches, outstanding teams, and individuals, medals were rightfully earned.

On December 6, 2023, Eastern International University (EIU) organised a panel discussion to introduce the publication “Vì một Việt Nam dân giàu nước mạnh” and a seminar on “Vietnam’s Economic Outlook�?

“Vì một Việt Nam dân giàu nước mạnh” brings together writings from 23 authors, including lecturers, researchers, journalists, and business professionals from both domestic and international backgrounds. The book, co-edited by Professor Tran Van Tho and cultural historian Tran Huu Phuc Tien, focuses on crucial aspects of economic and social development. It addresses pressing issues such as the conditions for Vietnam to deeply and actively participate in the global supply chain, solutions to enhance access to capital for small and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam, proposals for the robust development of private enterprises in Vietnam, and discussions on training high-quality human resources for the new phase of industrialization, among others.

On December 4th, at the Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center, Eastern International University (EIU), in collaboration with TÜV SÜD Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd and Becamex IDC, organised a seminar on “Accelerating Industry 4.0 Adoption Journey” This event is part of the activities within the framework of the Horasis Asia Meeting 2023, taking place in Binh Duong from December 3rd to 5th.

The seminar was attended by Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province, Honorary Chairman of the Eastern International University; Mr. Frank-Jürgen Richter, Chairman of the Horasis Organization; Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Becamex IDC, along with leaders of departments, committees, sectors, and Becamex IDC, as well as a large number of scientists and business leaders.

With the guidance of Ms. Lê Thu Hằng, a lecturer from the Becamex Business School, 6 students divided into 2 teams from the School, including Nguyễn Hoàng Thanh Thư, Phạm Bá Tấn Tài, Lê Hồng Dương, Đinh Văn Quyết, Trần Minh Tuyết, and Bùi Văn Đạt, have respectively achieved the ‘Award of Daejeon Association of Disabled Persons Information Union’ and the ‘Award of Woosong University LINC 3.0’ at the 2023 Korea – Vietnam Creative Idea Competition. The event was attended by Mr. Nguyễn Văn Lộc, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council of Bình Dương.

The competition involved the participation of 12 teams formed in collaboration between 5 South Korean universities and 7 Vietnamese universities, including Eastern International University, Vietnam-Germany University, Thu Dau Mot University, Binh Duong University, Binh Duong University of Economics and Technology, Vietnam-Singapore Vocational College, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.

The theme of this year’s competition is Smart City and Smart Mobility. The 12 participating teams have designed ideas for a smart city in the future that meets criteria such as environmental friendliness, closeness to residents, and development in economic, health, commercial, and technological sectors.

The competition aims to promote enhanced collaboration between universities in South Korea and universities in Vietnam, showcasing the friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries, especially the relationship between Daejeon City and Binh Duong Province.

Earlier, on November 28, at Thu Dau Mot University, a cooperation agreement signing ceremony took place among various universities from Vietnam and South Korea. As one of the universities in Binh Duong province, Eastern International University, along with other South Korean universities, signed a memorandum of understanding with key content such as: Collaborative development in infrastructure; Financial support for students from the universities in international cooperation activities; Development and exchange of human resources, enhancing the quality of students and faculty at the respective universities; Collaboration in technology transfer and technology development based on the capabilities and strengths of each university; Building a collaborative cultural foundation among the universities.

On November 30, the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at VNU-HCM collaborated with Eastern International University (EIU) to conclude the official quality accreditation survey of two training programs: Electrical Engineering, and Computer Networks and Data Communication. The assessment was conducted according to the standards for evaluating the quality of undergraduate programs set by the Ministry of Education and Training.

The program was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam, the Director of the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at VNU-HCM, who supervised the evaluation team. Assoc. Over nearly 4 days of work with a transparent and effective spirit, the External Evaluation Team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu, along with its members, conducted various specialized activities at EIU. These activities included meetings with university leaders, departments, and units; reviewing documents and evidence; interviewing relevant parties; inspecting practical and experimental equipment; and examining the working and learning conditions of faculty, staff, and students at the university.

During the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu presented the preliminary results of the official quality accreditation survey for the two training programs at EIU. The presentation highlighted both the strengths and suggested improvements for the two programs, aiming to contribute to the continuous enhancement of the overall educational quality at EIU and specifically within the two departments. The recommendations were made with the goal of ensuring the rights of learners and meeting the requirements of employers both domestically and internationally.

This will serve as a foundation for the University’s macro-scale plans and strategies for the quality of the two programs, aiming to achieve international education accreditation standards such as ABET by 2030.

From November 20, 2023, to November 26, 2023, students from the Becamex Business School, School of Engineering, and School of Computing and Information Technology at EIU had the opportunity to visit, experience, and gain valuable knowledge through a field trip to various businesses, organizations, and educational institutions in Singapore.

This program is designed to provide students with the chance to expand their knowledge and understand the differences between theory and practical experience. During the trip, students visited and learned from various reputable businesses, organizations, and educational institutions such as Makino Singapore Pte Ltd, Addicon Logistics Management, Omron Automation Center, Singapore Indian Development Association, Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Block 71 – NUS, and more.

At each business, students observed different management and operational models, gaining insights into the working environments of various companies and organizations. This allowed them to understand international work and study environments, meet market requirements, and enhance their knowledge and experience, contributing to their personal and professional development.

Additionally, according to the schedule, students also explored famous landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands, Esplanade Theatre, Garden by the Bay, etc., to exchange ideas and learn about the society, cuisine, and cultural diversity between nations.

Following the program, students will have reflections and presentations on their experiences and the knowledge acquired during their field trip.

In the opening speech, Dr. Ngo Minh Duc, EIU president, expressed gratitude to the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at VNU-HCM and the External Evaluation Team for undertaking the quality assessment activities for the two training programs at EIU. Dr. Ngo Minh Duc also conveyed the university’s desire for the External Evaluation Team to provide appropriate recommendations to help the university enhance the quality of education in the future. During this occasion, EIU president shared information about the university, including educational philosophy, mission, vision, currently offered programs, and the learning environment. Special emphasis was given to the Innovation and Industry 4.0 Ecosystem with eight key elements such as Fablab, Becamex Business Incubator, Industrial 4.0 Innovation Center, and Advanced Manufacturing Center.

Prof. Dr. Duong Hoai Nghia, Dean of the School of Engineering, and Dr. Huynh Tan Phuoc, the Head of the Computer Network & Data Communication Department, School of Computing and Information Technology, presented an overview of the school and the curriculum for each program to the External Evaluation Team.

At the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu, Vice President in charge of the International University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, and the Head of the External Evaluation Team, expressed gratitude to EIU for trusting, selecting, and effectively collaborating with the Center to implement the program for evaluating the quality of the undergraduate programs. After the opening ceremony, the External Evaluation Team proceeded to examine the evidence files of the two programs while also conducting surveys of specialized units within the university. Additionally, they conducted interviews with the leadership and support team of the university.

Over the two days of November 25 and 26, 2023, the EIU UNIGAMES officially launched successfully in a lively, vibrant, and energetic atmosphere. The event was attended by the university’s presidents, athletes, and a large number of EIU students participating as spectators.

The sports event, taking place from November 25, 2023, to December 10, 2023, has attracted over 400 athletes from various departments, units, and divisions, as well as students from the university, competing in five sports: football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and track and field.

In the first two days of the competition, the sports were captivating and intense, with teams giving their best efforts to secure places in the semi-finals and finals, promising even more excitement in the upcoming rounds.

EIU UNIGAMES 2023 not only serves as a platform for EIU to train and enhance both physical and mental health but also contributes to building solidarity among EIU members, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere for the learning and working process at the university. The sports event also encourages and promotes the sports movement, fostering an environment for exchange, learning, and building a healthy culture within the university. It is also an opportunity for EIU to discover and select outstanding athletes and teams to join the university’s training programs and participate in competitions at local, regional, and national levels.
