In order to contribute to the further enhancement of the innovative ecosystem and Industry 4.0 development in Binh Duong, led by Becamex, the seminar “Accelerating Industry 4.0 Adoption Journey” was organised. The aim was to bring together leaders from government agencies, departments, businesses, both domestic and international experts, as well as EIU faculty members, to exchange and share experiences in applying advanced technology of Industry 4.0 to serve the goal of sustainable community development.

In this new stage, amidst the backdrop of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and strong digital transformation in all sectors, Binh Duong consistently shows interest and encourages the proactive implementation of solutions to stay ahead of Industry 4.0 trends. This includes expanding the development of various service models, focusing on the development of high-quality human resources, and building sustainable urban areas. After more than 25 years of reconstruction and development, Binh Duong has transformed into an industrially, urbanly, and dynamically serviced province in the key economic region of the South and the whole country. Particularly noteworthy is the recognition in 2023 by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF), which honoured Binh Duong Innovation Region as the TOP 1 exemplary smart development community of the year.

In this strategic development plan, both Becamex in general and EIU in particular play crucial roles in building and promoting the entrepreneurial ecosystem, innovation, and Industry 4.0. This is a concrete example of applying the Three Houses model (State, School, and Enterprise) in constructing a smart city. Specifically, Becamex is a leading and pioneering enterprise in building a new generation industrial ecosystem with innovation as the foundation, meeting the new needs of Vietnam and the era, such as smart transformation and sustainable development. EIU is at the forefront of connecting universities with businesses to build an innovative ecosystem. This collaboration is extremely important to accompany businesses in upgrading management, organization, and technology, thereby continuing to enhance labor productivity and competitiveness in the new context.

In his speech at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province and Honorary Chairman of the Eastern International University, stated: “In 2023, the Binh Duong Innovation Region was honored by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) as the TOP 1 exemplary smart development community of the year. To sustainably maintain and achieve the triumph of the goals of this strategy, it is not only necessary to have ‘smart’ solutions and strategic tasks but also requires ‘smart’ implementation. However, in the practical implementation process, alongside opportunities and favorable conditions, Binh Duong will inevitably encounter many difficulties and challenges.

Therefore, within the framework of this year’s Horasis Asia Meeting 2023, we have two special sessions to discuss issues of the era directly related to the development strategy of Binh Duong. This is a great opportunity for leaders of government agencies, departments, businesses, and experts from both domestic and international arenas to come together for exchange and sharing of experiences in applying advanced technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to serve the goal of sustainable community development.
